چکیده
Background Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging using phase sensitive inversion recovery (PSIR) late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is the in vivo reference standard for assessing focal myocardial scar. Post-contrast T1-mapping by Modified Look-Locker Inversion recovery (MOLLI) can be used to generate a Synthetic PSIR LGE (SynLGE) image with an image contrast similar to conventional LGE images. We aimed to identify focal myocardial scar by SynLGE and compare its diagnostic accuracy with the reference standard LGE. We hypothesized that SynLGE has an accuracy which approaches LGE for diagnosing focal myocardial scar.

Quantification of myocardial late gadolinium enhancement using synthetic inversion recovery imaging
Background Inversion recovery (IR) late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is generally used for post-contrast infarct detection in the myocardium. Novel technological advancements allow for the generation of synthetic IR images based on the pixel-bypixel T1 values. Theoretically, synthetic IR images can be retrospectively generated at any inversion time (TI). In this...

BACKGROUND A comprehensive cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in reperfused ST-segment myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients can be challenging to perform and can be time-consuming. We aimed to investigate whether native T1-mapping can accurately delineate the edema-based area-at-risk (AAR) and post-contrast T1-mapping and synthetic late gadolinium (LGE) images can quantify MI size at 1.5...
متن کاملRapid T1 quantification based on 3D phase sensitive inversion recovery
BACKGROUND In Contrast Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging fibrotic myocardium can be distinguished from healthy tissue using the difference in the longitudinal T1 relaxation after administration of Gadolinium, the so-called Late Gd Enhancement. The purpose of this work was to measure the myocardial absolute T1 post-Gd from a single breath-hold 3D Phase Sensitivity Inversion Recovery sequence (...
متن کاملProspective comparison of novel dark blood late gadolinium enhancement with conventional bright blood imaging for the detection of scar
BACKGROUND Conventional bright blood late gadolinium enhancement (bright blood LGE) imaging is a routine cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) technique offering excellent contrast between areas of LGE and normal myocardium. However, contrast between LGE and blood is frequently poor. Dark blood LGE (DB LGE) employs an inversion recovery T2 preparation to suppress the blood pool, thereby incre...

Background Myocardial scar volume quantification has been shown to predict response to medical, surgical, and device therapy. Phase sensitive inversion recovery (PSIR)-based Late Gadolinium Enhancement (LGE) image reconstruction is clinically attractive for its reduced dependence on accurate prescription of the Time from Inversion (TI time), and is becoming a preferred approach for many centers...
